the group work
guest choreography
When David comes in to build a piece with students, dance companies, or other groups of movers, it is always an original one. Typically, these works are characterized by an odd mix of gesture and non-literal movement, an intricate blend of improvisation and set material, and a process that can be rigorous, intriguing, puzzling, and enjoyable…and is often highly collaborative. His intention is to have what emerges directly reflect, challenge, and celebrate who the participants are as dancers—independently and with others—by drawing upon their skill levels, their unique ways of moving, their creative energies, who they are as people, and so forth. It is a distinctive experience.
